Piano Rentals Across the Delaware Valley

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts
The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts — home of the Philadelphia Orchestra and one of the nation’s great concert halls. Philly has a serious piano heritage. We make it easy to start your own.

PianoPiano's roots run deeper in Philadelphia than most people realize. Our founder, Jerry, grew up in Trenton and went to college at Penn. His father owned Binder State Street, a department store where half of Levittown bought their first dinette sets. When the store closed, the piano manufacturers came calling, and Jerry opened his own shop in Bordentown, just across the river from his home in Washington's Crossing, Bucks County. He later became part owner of Jacob's Brothers, a piano store with deep South Jersey and Philly ties. Jerry's first two children were born in Washington's Crossing, and our president, Sarah, went to school in the area! We aren’t a New York company expanding south--Philadelphia is where our piano story began.

Today we deliver pianos throughout the Philadelphia metro area and the wider Delaware Valley — from Center City to the Main Line, from Bucks County to South Jersey, down the shore and down through Delaware. Ardmore, Cherry Hill, Wilmington, Doylestown, King of Prussia — wherever you are in the region, we’ll bring a piano to your home and set it up.  In PA we go as far west as Pittsburgh!

We’re a 50-year family piano rental business based in New York, and Philadelphia is one of our closest and most active markets. Most Philly-area deliveries are scheduled within one to two weeks. No showroom visit required — over 85% of our customers choose their piano online or through a virtual tour over Zoom or FaceTime.

Curtis Institute and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Philadelphia has been a world-class music city for over a century — home to one of the most selective conservatories on Earth and an orchestra that has shaped the sound of American classical music. Whether you’re a Curtis student, a Settlement Music School parent, or someone who just wants to play at home, renting puts a real piano in your hands without a five-figure commitment.

What to Know About Renting a Piano in the Philadelphia Area

Delivery from New York. Philadelphia is about two hours from our New York showroom and warehouse — one of the closest markets on our delivery route. Our team runs the I-95 corridor between Boston and DC regularly, and Philly-area deliveries are typically scheduled within one to two weeks.

Philly rowhomes and older buildings. Philadelphia’s housing stock has its own character — narrow rowhomes, tight front doors, steep staircases, and some buildings that haven’t been renovated since the Eisenhower administration. Our delivery team handles these regularly. When you place your order, we’ll ask about stairs, doorway widths, and any access challenges. Grand pianos are delivered with legs removed and fit through standard doorways. If your building requires a certificate of insurance (COI), let us know and we’ll handle it.

No showroom in Philadelphia — but you don’t need one. We offer virtual tours over Zoom or FaceTime, and our New York showroom (37 West 65th Street, Manhattan) is an easy Amtrak ride from 30th Street Station if you want to see pianos in person.

No sales tax. PianoPiano is only required to collect sales tax in New York and California.
