Weber upright keys

Weber

A New York Name with Real History

Albert Weber founded the company in New York in 1852, and by the 1860s, Weber grands were the instruments of choice for New York's elite musicians. The brand earned medals at World's Fairs in Philadelphia, London, and Paris.

Young Chang acquired the Weber name in 1986 and kept what mattered: the commitment to a richer, more refined sound. Today's Weber pianos are built alongside Young Chang instruments, sharing the same Delwin Fandrich redesign.  New plates, string scales, soundboards, and hammer-making processes were introduced in 2008.

The difference is intentional. Young Chang asked Fandrich to give each brand its own musical personality, not just slap different names on identical pianos.

What Makes Weber Different from Young Chang

Both brands share core engineering, but they're voiced and weighted differently:

Young Chang: Brighter tone, lighter and more responsive action. Easier for developing players.

Weber: Mellower, warmer, more romantic sound. Heavier action with more resistance—often preferred by conservatory students and players who enjoy a more resistant feel or are practicing for recitals and competitionsl.

Same quality. Different feel and sound. The choice comes down to what you prefer under your hands.

The Weber Product Family

Weber Continental Console (44")
Compact size with Weber's characteristic warm tone

Weber Studio Upright (45")
More string length, fuller bass response

Weber Professional Upright (48")
The sweet spot for serious practice. Heavy action builds technique. Rich romantic tone won’t tire the ear and allows you to put true expression into your playing. Conservatory students’ favorite piano for preparing for recitals and competitions. Available with a silent system.

Weber Baby Grand (5')
Fandrich's floating soundboard design gives surprising bass depth for the size. Also available with a silent system.

Weber Professional Grand Piano (5’9″)
Extended scale for richer bass and greater dynamic range.

Weber Professional Grand Piano (6’1″)
The largest Weber we rent. Room-filling sound with Weber's signature firm touch.

Albert Weber is the premium tier—Korean-built with Renner actions, maple rims, and upgraded materials. We rent those too.

Who Weber Is For

Weber fits players who find lighter actions unsatisfying—the ones who want to feel the piano push back and put their own feeling into their playing.

  • Conservatory students building finger strength and dynamic control
  • Classical players who prefer a more European-style, substantial touch
  • Teachers who want students to develop proper technique on a serious instrument
  • Anyone who's played a Weber before and knows they prefer the feel

If you've tried a Young Chang or Yamaha and found it too bright or too light, Weber is the answer in the same price range.
